Yearly dilated eye exams are recommended for all diabetic patients. At such exams your eye doctor will communicate with your primary care doctor or endocrinologist regarding the level of diabetes in your eyes. If your doctor notes any diabetic retinopathy he may suggest treatment with LASER, injections of medication, or surgery.
